This room just...evolved...into a monster.
There are so many slammin' mixplates, dj-only subscription services, stuff the Apollo Force DJ's did....each of which focused on ONE year. I think this room will be incredibly fun. And the track listings for each of the tapes are MIND-BOGGLING. I know! I uploaded this text, one freakin' jam at a time!
I just kinda figured, call it foresight, that there everyone has "a year". A time and a place. And that you might want to go back to it during a long drive. Or at home with someone special.
And don't you DARE call me The Love Doctor.
I just know each of these years meant a lot to *me*.
If i could count it off like James Brown, it'd be:
Roxanne, Eileen, Giulia, Heide, Amy, and my "sister", Xina.
And then Jasmine Marie? Time will tell....and it's all goodstuff!
And on the "store" tip, it'd be: Emil Novak, Fred Eyre, Ron Schuh, the store cat Godzilla (r.i.p., brother.), Neil Harris, Bryan Bryndle, Dan the Scary Man, Jeremy the Vegan, Psycho (Mike Pacheco), Chris Naab, Sam the Hustler, Marc Feliciano, Danny, Paul the Bouncer, Marcos Udagawa....
i went thru employees like lovers. If i missed anyone, let me know!
And ultimately:
Me. Alone. Me, myself and i. All those late nights.
Wasted (or not). Buried in records. Never giving the turntables a breather.
I just bared *mine*. Now go for *your's*.
Take a trip with me. Pick a year and lemme serve it to you.
Apollo Style. Capish?
I can't CONVEY the excellent mixing here, simply by bowling you over with the VOLUME of jams folded into each mix.
You gotta join me and TRY ONE!

(This room dedicated to my soul brother, Aaron Harris. Cuz he knows every damn jam on these mixes. And spent many a night being ButtHead to my Beavis, as we cued 12" after 12", box after box, promo after promo, incoming order after incoming order......and i NEVER laughed so hard as when we Two Fierce DivaDevilDolls confronted some new record with THE most cynical ears...., but with the most "hoping for hip-shakin' appeal" excitement two vinyl fans can muster. Like we were kids again with a bag of 45's and chips & dip & soda.)

mixN.02) The 1980 to 1982 Megamix
(2cd only, no cassette)
September, 2003: newly remastered/expanded. Was 80m. NOW: 141m!

Most mixplates back in 1980-82 were those hideous "stars on 45" style monotonic beats with the then-current jams "shoehorned" into the mix. AJ don't play that, so you won't find anything that BORING here. These are clever, scripted mixes that make the AJ cut, focusing on the years in question. But i gotta tell ya: it's HARD to find more of them (that are truly GOOD) and equally hard to blend these mixes into one BIG megamix, as we do in this series.

Jams include: (Be not afraid, True Believer, but there are 151 jams on this mix!)
