Intro to the 1st 4 tapes:
During the mid-80's, The Wizard (a/k/a Jeff Mills) THREW DOWN
Saturday nights. Using house, techno, funk, hiphop, oldies,
newies, clips from movies and cartoons, there's only one way to
describe his unique style... take a dj, tie him to a chair, put
his record crates & THREE turntables where he can reach them,
shoot him up with crystal meth.....and watch him BURN!
Spectacular intros and drop-ins over a FRANTIC desire (he's
downright SCARY sometimes!) to get to the next record almost
immediately, using ingenious blends and cuts galore. The Wizard
was simply splendid and NOT to be missed! Here are four VERY
rare examples of his exceptional skills! And don't miss the
goodies we offer AFTER the Wizard block. Don't SLEEP on this
shit, people! Truly breathtaking, and some of the best mixing
i've ever heard!

Intro to .05 and .06: We put together a splendid miniseries of
mixes chronicling the history
of techno from its' Detroit roots to its' European metamorphosis. Culled
from long out of print and rare mix service volumes spanning over a five
year period, these are some of the best mixes these services have ever
created. And i've sequenced and pause-beated them together into a
flowing, earliest-to-latest party mix that'll take you back to those
heady days of the late 80's and early 90's when primitive keyboard
figures and slammin' beats were all we needed to cause a ruckus on the
dancefloor (the upside). Let's not talk about the concurrent influx of
rubberneckers and jocks into the scene (the downside). There are TOO
many trax on each tape to list them all, so what you'll see are included
artist samples and where the mix originated. Good shit, tho, and for
more of the same, check out DJ XOTEC's mixes in the
mixI.room.
-
mixF.05) TECHNOMIX ONE (DMC 1987-90)
(2cd only, no cassette)
- By compiling a chronological series of 11 mixes using over 100
house/acid/pop/original Progressive House and Techno jams, this is
the melting pot that spawned 90's techno and the current Electronica
"stew". Way too many tracks on this mix to list here, so check out the
highlights below as we flash back to a happier, less jaded time when
the music (among other things) made you SWOON on that dancefloor! Like
i said, way too many jams on this one mix to list them all here, but
among dozens of other artists, you'll find Royal House, Marshall
Jefferson, Reese & Santonio, Black Riot, Ten City, Swan Lake, S'Express,
Inner City, Mr. Lee, Todd Terry and much more!
- Mixes include:
- > 7/88: Technocuts by the Mixbusters. Royal House to Black Riot.
- > 11/88: It's Party Time by Mike Gray. Ten City to Inner City.
- > 9/88: Hot House by Dakeyne. Swan Lake to Jolly Roger.
- > 10/88: Can U Feel It by Les Adams. Royal House to Swan Lake.

- > The James Brown "I Got You" Technosized Mix Version 2
-(phew! That was just side ONE. Side two draws from the Music Factory
series. The concept here is to take megamixes and make ONE big megamix
out of them. The results are just overkill.....exactly the way you'd
want techno. At some point, your brain just shuts down and submits to
the drugs, i mean BEATS!....hey, maybe that's why the lunkheads were
drawn to this stuff! No brain TO shut down? He he he......)

point, when you're taking ANYTHING and putting the current beat-de-jour
underneath it, all musical dance movements go the way of disco. (insert
chorus of Ethel Merman's "There's No Business Like Show Business" here
for emphasis).
- > Techno Termination by Johann Strauss.
- >Convert to Digital Boy. Ironically, this is where this series ends.

Intro to the next six tapes:
mixF.08 thru .13 are all by John Aquaviva. Yes, "the" John Aquaviva. Back when he was just....John Aquaviva. Regardless....the boy can mix
his ASS off. Does he still? No doubt, but THIS is when the records were
infinitely BETTER. John's quickmixing is second to none, check out the
sheer VOLUME of material per tape! And we've never stopped loving
and highly recommending this great batch of six tapes, all from the
1988-89 period. A very WICKED time period (musically and personally). Here we go:

- > sidenote: part of his genius here, (like he needs food for his
swelled head ;-P), is how seamlessly he moves from genre to genre
without any carcrashes. And there are *major* risks being taken
combining like he does. And these are listed in the exact order of the
mix! Deceptively sophisticated, even in the chaos of a clubnight and all
the distractions. Keep scanning the track listings and you'll see what i
mean.)
