This section is currently being agonized over.
Think about the freakin' WORK involved here! Histories and discographies of
just about anything you'd imagine. Groups, artists, scenes, genres that
AREN'T covered already by other sites, or covered so poorly and pathetically
and mistake-ridden that you just want to grab these half-steppin' "authors" by
the scruffs of their necks and shoot 'em! It's actually quite sad...because
what belongs in this Archives room is ALREADY DONE. In fact, it's all right
*here* (pointing off-camera). 36 black spiral notebooks with all the hard copy
information on just about ANY musical artist, group, genre or scene worth a
damn, which get updated and amended constantly. PLUS the largest
library of out-of-print
jams on Earth, probably the greatest single repository of 'source material' for
(potential) cd's and mp3's on the planet. But the constant turnaround of formats
every 5-8 years, followed by our total conversion into the new formats, is just
NOT cost-effective or time-effective for us.
It just seems like the 'business of survival' is ALWAYS going to be in the way
of what i want to do with this site. It's always this scenario where i'm
building those
parts of the site that will bring in income and never having a stress-free
period of a week or even a day to begin sharing the Museum i've created.
Classic old zines, music histories and discographies, sub-rooms devoted to
cult genres. Photos & sound bytes. All the Apollo Jam Lists we published, that
chronicle the complete history of the 12" single from the birth of hiphop up
into the mid-90's. Classic unpublished works by the A-list of rock writers
during the Golden Era of Rock Criticism. Basically, THE encyclopedia of rock 'n'
roll, soul, and hiphop/dance. I just have SO much material i'd love to
share with you.....I'd solicit for a grant if i knew how to...and spend every
day and night banging out webpage after webpage of what i already have as
'hardcopy' literally right in front of me. You'd need a webcam to see it all,
and i guaranTEE you'd shit!

Meanwhile, let's you and me go back to the commerce part of the site and hey,
order something! Consider it an investment if you like cuz i don't see anyone
whipping out their checkbook to be the instrumental factor in the completion
of this Archives section. It all boils down to YOU, and what i can sneak in
here inbetween chasing my nut each month.
